Stephen is the Head Coach at Springvale North. A former ATP tour player, he has a wealth of experience playing and coaching at all levels of the game.
Stephen started to play tennis at age 7, quickly becoming enthralled by the sport, spending many long summer days at the courts.
Stephen’s junior career comprised of a top 8 ranking in the Victorian Under 18’s, winning numerous National Under 18’s Points Tournaments.
Among these was the TCAV Tour Under 18’s Singles, which included a victory over Pat Rafter in the quarter finals on the way to the title.
Stephen participated in the 1988 Australian Open Junior Singles/Doubles Championships, losing his second round encounter to David Rikl of the Czech Republic.
On the World Tour, Stephen won two French Money Tours, the Tournoi De Tennis De Saint Andre and De Cubzac Titles in 1990. He played at Satellite and Challenger levels between 1988 and 1993.
Domestically, Stephen won the Victorian Harcourt Championships in 1995 and tournaments in Mildura, Shepparton, Maryborough, Albury and Holbrook. He played Victorian State Grade Tennis between 1988 and 2002, winning premierships with Dendy Park in 1997 and Royal South Yarra in 1999, also winning both clubs' Singles Club Championships.
Stephen’s highest ATP ranking was 1096 in 1993. He defeated well known Australian players Mark Philippoussis and Wayne Arthurs.

Stephen has coached a number of players who have progressed to U.S college tennis and have been winners of Junior/Senior Tournaments throughout Australia. To date, his most successful student has been Christina Wheeler, who achieved her highest WTA ranking of 147 in 2003.
Stephen’s coaching offers members and visitors of all abilities a chance to enjoy and excel at any level of tennis. Stephen caters to everyone’s needs. He is keen to see players enjoy themselves and the sport. Coaching levels include the Hot Shot Program (ages 5 – 12), continuing at Juniors (12 – 18) and going all the way to the Senior Program (19 +). From beginner to advanced, all standards of tennis are catered for.
